Merry monday #6!

Hiya bloggerettos!

So I know I have been absent from this blog as of late and for that I apologise greatly! But to make up for it MERRY MONDAY returns!!

Now, this week I have found it hard to think about what theme for todays Merry Monday. But, after lots and lots of thought I found a quote that just seemed perfect.

"If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves." – Thomas A Edison

It is so true, imagine if we put 110% of ourselves into everything we did. Not just at home but at school and work. It would be amazing what we could achieve with just a little bit extra effort.

This week I challenge you to try and put 100% of yourself into EVERYTHING you do. Who knows, you might end up being the first 16 year old president? The possibilities are endless.

Review: Make-up Goodies!!

Hello bloggerettos!

Reccently I have had tons of make-up appearing all over the shop, things that I have been sent to review so I decided today is the day!
Here are the products:

  • Almay Clear complexion foundation in neutral 220
  • An all over face brush from Royal Cosmetic Connections
  • Nivea Pure and Natural colours Pressed Powder in Sand 04
  • And a Yardley London Pressed powder in Apricot 05

The Almay Clear Complexion Foundation:
So far I am in love with this foundation, It is very light on the skin and I would give the coverage a seven out of ten. However, This is thier lightest colour and I am very pale so this colour does have quite an orange undertone on me. For durability i would give it an eight out of ten as it can crease throughout the day especially around the eyes and the mouth (Where I expected) It says that it has blemish heal technology which isn't a lie however I wouldn't say it was a life-changing difference. Another thing I love is the lots of Information on the back of the bottle, although it did take me untill the 5th day of having this product that if you pulled back the paper at the back there was more information, so my advice would be a bigger arrow as people with bad sight would more than likley not notice this. My main problem with this product is the packaging which is glass and a pour-out dispencer but overall I would give this product a seven point five out of ten!

This is the foundation in the colour neutral (220)

This is the look of it on my very pale hand

The Royal Cosmetics Connections All Over Face Brush:
Love! Love! Love! This brush is super soft, fluffy and MASSIVE which I love. It has a 10cm handle and the bristles are 4cm. I have two minor problems with this brush however.
  1. The bristles are black. Now this sounds stupid but I prefer brushes with a light-coloured top as it makes them easier for cleaning.
  2. I don't feel this brush will be super long-lasting as the bristles seem to fall out willy-nilly, not enough to be extremly noticible but enough. Overall I would give this brush a nine out of ten!
 How very tall
The soft bristles!
The Nivea Pure & Natural Colours Pressed powder:
My first Impressions are very nice with decent coverage but as of yet I am not 'loving' it. I feel that my expectations when I first saw the product was high and it slightly let me down. It finishes Mat and Natural but in certain light exposures can look very sparkly and shiny which is not what I want nor expected. It is dermatogically approved which is a big plus but it doesn't really jump off the shelves at me. I don't think I will be running out to get this anytime soon. Overall rating? Probably a five out of ten.
 Nivea....
 Sand (04)
What a pretty pattern

And the last thing I was sent was the Yardley London Pressed powder. LOVE doesn't even describe how much I love it. It is light on the skin, applys mat, sets other make-up beautifully and looks very glowy and summery. I think that this will be a big summer product. It reminds me of a stronger (colour) version of the Rimmel Stay Matte powder. I love the packiging and the product. This will definatley be a repurchase. Ten out of ten. Thats it for this (not so) small review Look out for a makeup haul soon!
 LOVE this packaging!
 Looks so new....
Fab photography skills...

See you soon Emamama xoxo

Confidence

Heeelooooooo Bloggerettos,

So as you probably already know, Confidence is a big thing within this blog. It is intertwined into almost every post and is the reason for me creating this blog. I think confidence is amazing. Someone who is able to look past thier own faults and imperfections and can still say "I am amazing" Overwhelms me, mesmerises me. I am not the most shy human being on the planet, far from it. However confidence within myself, self belief, is something I fail to grasp.

I think one reason for this is my eczema. For those of you wondering eczema is skin condition which creates cuts, redness and sometimes blisters on the skin. For me eczema has been an ongoing battle for the majority of fifteen years. For a number of years it was mild and was irreagular. It never stayed for too long. Despite this, around three years ago my ecxema flared up and it was awful. It got so bad that I could hardly walk, move and couldn't sleep at night. I spent hours and hours at night crying my eyes out because the pain was unbearable. Eventually I agreed that a skin condition which was making it difficult to move my arms was ridiculous.I decided to make an appointment at my local practice. The doctor  however made me feel so small and pointless it dampend my spirits further.

But my mother wouldn't give up. She would buy mouisturiser after mousturiser trying to find something that would work. Sadly, Nothing did. It was then my mum decided to take me back to the doctor. I was not as happy about this as my mother but I didn't have a choice. When we went back it was the locam doctor that I had to see. He was such a gentleman and got me booked in at the hospital.

It was then that I was now going to the hospital everyday. Wearing dressings which made me look like a mummy. I felt so bad about myself. It was such a low time in my life. I would say things such as: "Why am I so ugly?" "Why is my skin so sore?" "I hate my life" "I don't deserve this" "I don't even care" "I am so different" "I will never get married" Looking back I was so selfish. Leaving my mum with these questions which she couldn't answer.

Eventually my skin began to clear up. I was so happy. Everything was looking up. My grades were good, I had started to play Cello and was offered a place in the Edinburgh Youth Orchestra. I just felt like me again. I began to gain Confidence. It was great.

My skin is still on the mend and I have to wear dressings at night. And yes I have marks on my legs. Scars which will always be with me. The memories of people saying nasty things but it all just reminds me of how strong I am. How amazing I am. And how much my confidence has grown. I love my life and most of all me. I am who I am. I am confident, and you can be too.

I would like to thank:
My amazing mum who has been with me through it all, the long nights, the tears, the laughter, the lows and the highs.
Dr.Todd for getting me seen so quickly at the hospital
And, all the staff in the hospital who have helped me with the recovery.

I love you all,
Enjoy life
Be confident

See you soon,
Emamama

Merry monday #5

Yo, vas happenin' bloggerettos?

Once again it is a fab time, MERRY MONDAY (on a Tuesday) and this week my message to you is simple, Be Happy. Not hard to remember, it is so simple this week as I have figured that, life is so much better when you are happy.

So this week, I challenge you, to smile at atleast 10 people per day. You'll feel better and so will they. Make someone else feel better, go on. I DARE YOU.

This weeks quote is from the ever fab-u-lous Bob Marley. (please excuse my terrible handwriting)

New room, new me?!?

Hello bloggerettos,

What a cheesy title today, huh! Well I decided to move my room about, I think thats called funshooi? (please comment below and correct me) Anyway, a little geeky fact aboutme is that when I move my room around I am so much happier! (is that just me?) So, I thought I would do a room tour but then I decided against it as I feel my room is my sanctuary and if I was to show it in a room tour it would loose its sort of magic. So here are some pics instead :-)

Leaving it all in the waves

Hello bloggerettos,

Well today I decided to go on a walk with my dad. That doesn't seem like much but it was amazing. You see my dad and I have not always seen eye to eye. We are, I suppose, Chalk and Cheese (I never understood why it was chalk and cheese?) But I left behind our differences and we walked along the coastline with the gorgeous sky up above. It was quiet, a quaint little town, Aberdour. A nice place to get away. To forget the world. And just enjoy life. We watched the waves, the white horses crashing angainst the rocks. Carrying our problems away. It was PERFECT. Whatever perfect is anyway, or close enough at least. We walked, talked, and just enjoyed each others company for an hour and a half. It was so nice. I don't want to use the word 'nice' its so inbetween, inaccurate, improbable. But it was. So I took some pictures for you, enjoy...
View from our car...
